Winter Mittens Paper Strip Craft
Winter is such a nice season because you get to cozy up in warm mittens and fluffy scarves! My favourite part of winter is bundling up so I just couldn't resist making a mittens craft... *giggle*
This craft is very simple and very fun. The paper strips add a neat pattern and allow children to be super creative. Plus... the cotton balls make for a very fluffy pair of mittens!
Materials:
- paper & printer,
- colourful construction paper,
- glue,
- scissors,
- Optional: cotton balls
- Optional: string
Craft Instructions:
Print out the template or draw your own mittens on plain paper. - Cut out the wooly brims of the mittens but leave the rest of the template intact.
Cut out several strips of colourful construction paper.
- Try to use at least two colours in order to make a pattern.
- They don't all need to be the same width so don't worry too much about making perfect strips.
Flip the paper with the mitten drawings upside down.
- Use a glue stick to glue the construction paper strips on the mittens in a pattern.
Flip the paper back over so you can see the template line and cut out the mittens.
Now glue the brim of the mittens onto the pattern part of the mittens.
Using white glue, stick cotton balls to the brim of the mittens.
- You may have to split the cotton balls up into smaller pieces.
Glue a piece of string to the bottom corner of both mittens like they are connected.
Craft Templates:
- After printing, close the template window to return to the main page.
- If the template doesn’t fit on one page, adjust your printer margins:
• In most browsers: Print → More settings → Margins → Minimum
• Or use Page Setup / Printer Setup in your printer dialog
