OPTIONAL - AXE:
paper towel roll, scrap cardboard, glue, poster paints in brown, grey and red.
Directions: Dress up in yellow rain jacket, rubber boots and fire fighter hat from the toy store.

OPTIONAL - AXE:
make a pretend axe from a paper towel roll and cardboard. Just two axe head shapes from cardboard and hot glue them all the way around, leaving an opening for the cardboard tube to fit through. Paint the tube brown and the ax head grey with red on the edge. Slip it through a belt loop or allow child to carry it.

If you are having trouble finding the pieces for the costume in the store, or if you like sewing parts of your own costumes, check out these ideas:

1) In colder climates especially, make a cloak from red or yellow material. You can wear this overtop of a warm jacket. The pattern does not require sewing.

2) Cut off a short length of old garden hose that the child can carry instead of an axe.
