Paper Plate Scarecrow
A simple paper plate craft to make a scarecrow face. You can do this by cutting pieces from construction paper freehand or you can use the template I've provided.
Materials:
- Printer and paper
OR - brown construction paper.
- yellow construction paper or yellow wool
- scissors,
- glue,
- black marker,
- paper plate,
- Optional: Beige or light pink paint
- Optional: wiggly eyes.
Instructions:
- Optional: Paint the inside of the paper plate beige or light pink and let dry.
- Print the template
OR - Cut your own template pieces:
- a large triangle from brown construction paper and then round the top to make a hat shape.
- a large, stretched out, kidney bean shape from brown construction paper to make the hat brim.
- a small triangle nose.
- Color as necessary (if using the B&W version).
- Cut out the template pieces.
- Cut about 8 strips of construction paper about 1" wide and as long as you can make them or cut about a dozen lengths of yellow wool.
- Glue the strips of construction paper onto the plate to make hair. Trim as necessary to make bangs. When we put on our hair we made it stick out in strange directions so it would look more like straw.
- Glue the eyes and the nose to the face.
- Draw a mouth on with black marker.
- Glue the hat piece behind the paper plate so it sticks up over top.
- Glue the brim piece on top of the paper plate so it covers the edges of the hair.
- Glue the sunflower and the crow onto the hat.
- Glue the bow under the chin.
