DLTK's Holiday Crafts for Kids
Frankenstein Shapes Paper Craft
This simple color, cut, and paste activity is a fun way to reinforce early shapes education. Kids will create their own friendly Frankenstein head using basic geometric shapes - a square, rectangle, triangles, circles, and ovals - while practicing important fine motor and sequencing skills.
Materials:
- glue or scotch tape,
- scissors,
- printer,
- paper,
- Something to color with (if making the B&W paper version).
Instructions - paper version:
- Print out the template of choice and color if necessary.
- Carefully cut out all the pieces — the square head, thin rectangle forehead, five triangle hair pieces, two circle eyes, oval nose, and two oval ears.
- Glue the thin rectangle (forehead) above the square head.
- Overlap and glue the five triangles along the top edge of the rectangle to make Frankenstein’s spiky hair.
- Add the eyes, nose, and ears.
Templates:
- After printing, close the template window to return to the main page.
- If the template doesn’t fit on one page, adjust your printer margins:
• In most browsers: Print → More settings → Margins → Minimum
• Or use Page Setup / Printer Setup in your printer dialog
Template color or B&W
Shape-based crafts help children recognize and work with basic geometric forms while using their creativity to build something fun. They strengthen fine motor skills, reinforce shape and size comparisons, and encourage planning and sequencing all while giving kids a sense of accomplishment when they see their simple shapes turn into a character they recognize.
