Materials Required: | Dog colored hooded sweater - like white, black or brown (you could even use red and be Clifford) with matching sweat pants. If you don't have a hooded sweater, you can use a normal one with a cap or headband for your head. Felt in contrasting color for spots Felt in matching color for ears Double sided tape, sewing kit or hot glue 2 pairs of socks (or one pair socks and one pair mittens) for paws dog collar or belt cut to fit around neck Face makeup (store bought or home made) |
Directions: | Cut spots from contrasting felt and attach to sweatsuit with hot glue, hand stitching or double sided tape. Keep in mind the hot glue isn't reversible. Cut tail from felt and hot glue, hand stitch or tape to back of sweatsuit. Cut floppy ear shapes (sort of peanut shapes) from the matching felt and hot glue, hand stitch or tape to hood. Wear socks on hands and feet (or mittens on hands and socks on feet). You can put paw pads on socks by cutting small circles from felt and attaching them to mittens with hot glue, stitching or double sided tape. Add belt or collar around neck. OPTIONAL: paint face the same color as sweatsuit. Paint an optional splotch around the eye. Paint nose black. ----------------- If you are having trouble finding the pieces for the costume in the store, or if you like sewing parts of your own costumes, check out these ideas: 1) Make your own tunic shirt from dog colored material (white, brown, grey or black) 2) Make homemade makeup 3) In colder climates especially, make a cloak from dog colored material (white, brown, grey or black). You can wear this overtop of a warm jacket. The pattern does not require sewing. |
