DIY Preschool Graduation Cap Craft:
As your little ones step forward from preschool, let's celebrate their achievement with a fun and creative crafting project. Here's how to create a delightful graduation cap that they can proudly wear on their special day.
Start with a paper or plastic bowl as the base for our graduation cap. Flip it upside down and color it using paint that matches the school's official color. Let it dry thoroughly. Alternatively, you can staple a strip of poster board in a circle to fit the child's head.
- Take a square piece of cardstock in the same color. Apply some glue to it and stick it onto the bottom of the inverted bowl, which is now the top of our cap.
- Carefully create a tiny hole in the center of the cardstock and the bowl using a pair of scissors. Adult supervision is crucial in this step to ensure safety.
- Choose a yarn in a coordinating color. Wrap it several times around your three fingers, leaving approximately a foot of yarn loose at one end.
- Gently slide it off your fingers and cinch together at the end where you have the extra length of yarn.
- Use another piece of yarn to tightly tie the pinched end together.
- Snip open the loops at the other end using scissors to create a tassel-like structure.
- Thread the longer end of the yarn through the hole created in the top of the cap.
- Use a piece of tape on the inside of the cap to secure the yarn, ensuring the tassel stays in place.
- To keep the cap secure on the child's head, consider attaching an elastic string to the inner sides of the bowl, ensuring a snug fit. This way, the little graduates can move freely without worrying about their adorable DIY graduation caps falling off.
