Printable Valentine's Day Cards
Just a quick thought regarding Valentine's Day cards - I like to make sure that there are enough for everyone in the classroom (not just best friends) and, when filling them out, I encourage the kids to print their name on the card, but not the name of the person receiving it -- that way, it's nice and quick for the teachers to get the cards handed out and no one is accidentally missed. If you do decide to fill in the recipient's name on your cards, consider including half a dozen blank ones just in case your child missed someone.

Cane heart cards (a great way to use up left over candy canes from Christmas)
Tip: Instead of "secret Santa" why not try having a "secret cupid" this year. Have each child in class, Sunday School or daycare choose the name of one recipient and have them make a Valentine only for them. This saves parents having to purchase or mass-produce cards, gives children the chance to work hard on a single project and prevents hurt feelings for kids who might not normally receive as many Valentines. Teacher/caregiver can have a few extra cards stashed away just in case someone gets missed due to illness or confusion.
